It's Blue Again!

Water Based DuPont Paint On Our '68 Mustang

Project Mustang, DuPont water based Brittany Blue

Thanks to DuPont, our '68 Mustang coupe is finally wearing the world's first water based formulation of Brittany Blue!

And it looks freakin' fantastic!

All those fears an naysayings about how water based paint will ruin the custom painting industry are totally unfounded; we've seen the process with our own eyes.

The color for DuPont's water based Ford Brittany Blue is spot-on with excellent depth and clarity. It even laid down amazingly smooth. We'll still go back and wet sand it to perfection down the road, but it's already glassier than almost anything we've sprayed before. You could honestly leave it as-is and drop jaws at any cruise night. We absolutely recommend trying it.

DuPont has spent time getting the user-friendliness up to par as well; we had no issues with our custom brewed color. Matter of fact, it was down right easy to spray. We're not sure what they did to tweak the formula, but they have it right.

We'll be pulling the bits together to get it ready for the cover shoot of our annual paint and body issue, so watch for more updates!
