This is actually a sneak peak of a story we're working on for the January 2013 issue, but we're leaking it now as a teaser. We picked 10 cars from 1976 and brought them to artist Ben Hermance for a make-over. We charged him with the job of making them look great without spending too much on high-end custom work. Ben did a great job (to check out more of his work, click here), but for now you can see out the sneak peek of this 1976 Ford Gran Torino he did for us. Here's the list of cars you can look forward to seeing in the January issue, on sale around Thanksgiving:
Why did we pick 1976? Because nobody wants them. Lots of states, including California, have smog exempted cars 1975 and older, making the 1976 models some of the hardest sells. They're super cheap right now, but in three years, they'll be 40 years old. Some states are sure to loosen their grip and allow smog exemptions for 1976 models. For now though, they're cheap as dirt. Get one while you can!
