Considering the depth and breadth of the archives at HOT ROD and Motor Trend, this should be a great one for Shelby fans to pick up.
The Carroll Shelby Foundation and editors at PHR’s parent company, Source Interlink, are teaming up to honor Carroll Shelby this summer with a special tribute magazine and limited edition hardbound coffee table book, produced under the direction of Motor Trend magazine and with assistance from the editors of Automobile, Hot Rod, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, and Mustang Monthly magazines. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the magazine and book will benefit the Carroll Shelby Foundation, which was established by Mr. Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and to promote continuing education.
The special 132-page magazine tribute, which will be on newsstands on Friday, August 3, will feature stories about the legend himself, along with original articles reprinted from vintage issues of Motor Trend, Hot Rod, Sports Car Graphic, and Automobile magazines. Editorial pieces about Mr. Shelby’s companies, including the 50th anniversary of Shelby American Inc. and the establishment of the Carroll Shelby Foundation will be printed alongside a variety of incredible images enthusiasts can’t find anywhere else.
“Mr. Shelby was one of the greatest automotive icons of our generation; it was only fitting to dedicate these two special editions to his legacy as a driver, manufacturer, hall of famer and designer,” added Edward Loh, editor-in-chief of Motor Trend magazine. “He introduced innovative new ideas to the automotive industry that changed the sports car landscape forever. His passion for the hobby is inspiring and we hope people enjoy the stories and history we’re sharing.”
The hardbound book will be available September 12 and features an additional 28 extra pages devoted to the American automotive icon.
The magazine will be on sale for $13.99 in the U.S., while the hardbound book will be sold for $19.95. Those interested in purchasing the magazine and/or the book can do so online by following the link to www.CarrollShelbyFoundation.org or by visiting their local book store.
