Curious about Los Angeles Trade-Tech College- the school where our paint and body crew for our '68 Mustang learned their skills? It could be the perfect path to a career in the automotive or hot rodding industry.
Los Angeles Trade-Tech College is a fully accredited college with an expansive curriculum with disciplines ranging from Art Trades to Fashion, Mathematics, and Sciences. For our paint and body project we hung out with the gearheads, fabricators, and painters in the Automotive Collision Repair department.
The best way to learn is to do, so the classes are a combination of classroom instruction coupled with hands-on training. Students learn welding procedures, diagnostic and repair procedures, body part alignment processes, metal finishing/shrinking/filling techniques, auto body electrical wiring systems, body section replacement and structural sectioning practices, body damage estimating techniques, auto body construction methods, paint color application skills, and body shop practices.
Under the guidance of instructors like Brian Ferre, who is himself an exceptional custom painter and pinstriper with decades of experience, the students learn top-level skills that opens doors for them at shops all around the country- or helps them open their open shop doors.
Whether you're more the fabrication and auto body kind, or more the mechanical diagnosis and repair type, there's likely a program at LATTC that can get you the skills you need to be employable right now.
