Over the past three years we’ve been slowly piecing together a great pro touring 1968 Nova that will eventually be as equally at home on the road course and autocross as it is in the driveway, but we’re still a little ways off. Most of the work has been done by the knowledgeable crew at Outlaw Motorsports in Riverside, CA; you will recall they did all of the sheetmetal work, paint prep, and painting of the Nova using products from Eastwood, YearOne, and Summit Racing. Things are now in the home stretch as we get it road worthy. Ron Aschtgen at Outlaw has been chasing down some electrical gremlins, swapping in our PerformaBuilt 700R4, and most recently putting our Nova on their new Mustang chassis dyno to do some fine tuning on a new Holley 770cfm Ultra Street Avenger carb in Hardcoat Gray. There’s still more to do, like clearancing the rear wheel wells for fender/tire interference, making the stance just right (it’s sitting far too low in back), and fixing more wiring gremlins in the lighting. In the spring we’ll be breaking it in on the street and getting some autocross laps with it. Look for a wrap-up story on the Nova in the coming months!
