Rodney Prouty wins the PHR Street Machine Autocross at Scottsdale, AZ.

Underdog Rodney Prouty wins the PHR Street Machine Autocross at the 15th Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, AZ.

We’ve seen Rodney Prouty and his ’68 Camaro at a bunch of autocross events over the past few years—he’s a hard-charging underdog who has just one goal in mind: have the maximum amount of fun possible! Rodney always has a good word, a quick smile, and the right attitude, and his Camaro is always looking great and running strong. What's most interesting is that Rodney does a lot with what he has; Rodney’s ’68 is rather modest, with a 6-liter LS swap, Sanderson headers, a Super T-10 four-speed, and Hotchkis TVS suspension. Nevertheless, his heart is big, and on this day, fate smiled on him big time, allowing him to pull off the fastest lap with a 32.391-second e.t. Rodney was up against very strong competition, namely Jeff Schwartz (yes, that Jeff Schwartz!) and seasoned-veteran, Dan Wieshaar—who was also running Hotchkis gear. For this accomplishment, Rodney won the final PHR Street Machine Autocross jacket. Look for the full story on PHR's Scottsdale Street Machine Autocross in the April 2013 issue!
