Woody's Hot Rodz of Bright, Indiana has been named Car Craft Magazine's "Pro Builder of the Year" for 2012!
The award was presented to Woody's owner and founder Christopher Sondles yesterday at the Car Craft Magazine Nationals in St. Paul, MN by the magazine's publisher Ed Zinke and Editor Doug Glad. This is the second year that Sondles and his crew at Woody's was up for the award and was their first time taking the prize and bragging rights home with them.
The award is voted on by the readers of Car Craft, the participants at the show and friends and fans that logged onto carcraft.com to place their votes. According to Zinke it was a tight race between last year's winner the Ring Brothers and Woody's. Sondles thanks his customer George Poteet for the win; "I respect and look up to every pro-builder in our industry, they all bring different ideas and talents to every build. It is our customers that deserve awards from us; George let me build the '57 Chevy of my dreams...apparently the public liked it enough to bestow upon us this great honor".
Sondles' long time friend and tour manager Billy Wooten was also on hand at the awards presentation where just the day before a car that he build 22 years ago won Best Engineered Pro/Street. Pretty cool for a car that still has the same paint on it that Wooten laid down two decades ago! "Cars like George's are a total team effort, this award goes to my entire team, all of our sponsors and all of those involved with the build especially Matt Baldwin and Dane Heninger who put in countless hours to make the project a reality" added Sondles.
