Chip Foose and the history of the muscle car.
Chip Foose's new show on the Velocity network American Icon With Chip Foose, is one of particular interest to us since it is hosted by friend of PHR Chip Foose and because it will focus on why the muscle car is the most coveted collector car today.
It's true, pre-war stuff will always be desirable, but muscle cars were the dream cars of America’s baby boomer generation who came of age during the 1960s and early 1970s.
American Icon With Chip Foose will chronicle the allure and evolution of muscle and pony cars that brought their legendary style and performance to showrooms across the county. Each episode tells the story of a specific influential period during the muscle car era, beginning with the origins of the factory performance cars and finally ending with their demise due to government regulation, insurance costs and the gas crisis.
That's not to say that muscle/pony cars don't exist anymore- they do and they're better than ever. But, there's just something about the originals... Makes us wonder if we'll eventually see a different generation of cars on shows like this in another 20-30 years- or if the interest in the original muscle cars will still eclipse everything that came afterwards.
You can catch American Icon With Chip Foose Tuesdays at 9:00 and 9:30 PM Eastern Time.
