The GPS-based Sky Drive speedo was tested at Bonneville, and is now available to you from Classic Industries.
Classic Instruments is now extending their Velocity series to include the Salt Flat Special, an instrument package that will include the incredibly accurate Sky Drive and 270mph speedometer with a fully programmable halo light. The halo light is an intense red LED light that will illuminate the entire instrument face when triggered. The Sky Drive has an independent output that can be used to trigger a relay if another warning device would need to be used (external LED, buzzer, etc.).
Based on the successful engineering of George Poteet’s Blowfish gauge, Classic Instruments was able to design this new speedometer, which features exaggerated indices and numerals, a bright orange pointer, and red halo lighting. After intense testing by the Blowfish team and Russ Dean at Bonneville, Classic Industries decided to make this product available for all customers. During Bonneville, Sky Drive was able to produce incredibly accurate readings throughout the entire run. The Sky Drive is capable of accurately reading speeds up to 625mph. Classic Instruments will calibrate the speedometer in-house to further ease installation. They will also set the red halo light to illuminate at any given speed, allowing you to know when you beat your previous record. The exaggerated indices on the gauges are designed to specifically highlight the most important areas for licensing runs. The gauge will be available in the Velocity White series in a 5-inch or 3 3/8-inch diameter with custom options available. A 3-inch chromed tachometer cup can be purchased separately.Classic Instruments800-575-0461www.ClassicInstruments.com
