Check out Dax Shepard's 1967 Lincoln Continental hot rod in this exclusive PHR video!
We traveled to Sun Valley, CA today to Loguzzo Motorsports to check out Dax Shepard's '67 Lincoln hot rod. We first discovered it when we got word about his new movie, Hit & Run, which will be in theaters August 24. We met Dax to shoot his classic luxury sedan for an upcoming feature in Popular Hot Rodding, and we also rolled some video of the shoot.
We discovered that Dax really knows his muscle cars; he even admitted to us that his acting career is just a means to acquire all the cool muscle machines he's always wanted. (Dax grew up in Detroit and his parents worked in the auto industry.) We found out that before Dax was a movie and TV star, he used to work for General Motors transporting press fleet cars across the country. Wow--what a great summer job for a high school kid!
After hitting it big in TV, Dax could finally afford to rehab his '67 Lincoln, which has been with him through thick and thin over the last 15-years. He finally built the big-block Ford of his dreams, then decided it was time to make a movie about the car. He cites his cinematic influences as a cross between McQueen's Bullitt, and Smokey & The Bandit. Dax's new movie, Hit & Run, is a blending of the two. He hopes the film will achieve the same historical importance in the car movie genre as his childhood faves, and we hope he succeeds! Check out Hit & Run, in theaters August 24.
