If you caught the December 12 episode of American “Top Gear” on the History Channel, you may remember that Kid Rock was the guest celebrity on the recurring segment, Big Star, Small Car. In the segment, celebs drive a gas-sipping turd around a high-speed test track—in this case the one at El Toro in Irvine, CA. Fans of Kid Rock know the Detroit native is pro-American all the way, and his fetish for hot rods is legendary. Nevertheless, Kid Rock sucked it up and piloted the show’s pet Suzuki SX4 Sportback--in the pouring rain--to a lap of 1.43.9 seconds, besting all previous comers (and in the process, endearing us by calling the Suzuki “so pukey.”) Perhaps the funniest part of the appearance was during the studio interview, when Top Gear co-host Rutledge Wood talks to Kid Rock about his pro-Detroit preference. “You’re saying you don’t own a Prius then?” Wood asks, to which Kid Rock responds, “If there’s anything that says unawesome, uncool, it’s a Prius.” New episodes of Top Gear air every Sunday at 10/9c on the History Channel.
