From his studio in Cave Creek, AZ Eric Herrmann creates paint and canvas artwork based on paint and steel artwork. Bikes, Cars, Trucks, and the Builders, Racers, and Riders, Herrmann says "If it’s loud and fast, I usually like it."
His latest painting entitled ‘Roadster’ is based on Barry Blomquist’s C1-RS Corvette built by The Roadster Shop that grabbed last year’s Street Machine of the Year award, GM Design award, and Trendsetters award.
The Gerber brothers of The Roadster Shop amassed countless hours working with some of the finest craftsmen in the world to create the C1-RS, so while talking with Eric at his art display during The Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction, Barry decided to have Eric recreate it on canvas.
For accuracy, Eric flew to an open house at The Roadster Shop for a photo shoot- and for inspiration Barry treated him to a ride in the C1-RS. Apparently Eric wasn’t aware of Barry’s ability to put the 600+ horsepower under his foot to proper use. After blasting through Midwestern country roads they found a perfect setting in the trees to pose the Vette.
Back in his Arizona studio, armed with hundreds of photos, Eric began the two month painting project. It was a laborious undertaking, but according to Eric, “I’m very fortunate to have risen to this level in my art career where the finest vehicles in the world are offered to me as subjects.”
The original ‘Roadster’ measuring 30” x 46” hangs in Barry’s home, but it is being reproduced in a limited edition as fine art prints available through Eric Herrmann Studios.
