Number One Laguna Fan

Goodguys Columbus

When we asked readers to meet us at the Goodguys event in Columbus, we lucked out when one of our biggest fans turned up.

There are PHR readers, and then there is a much smaller subset of fans who make it a point to take part 110 percent. We were lucky this past weekend at the Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, when we met up with reader, Larry Belcher. Photographer, Robert McGaffin, and I were making a beeline through the car show, when we heard Larry call out to us. He had his PHR shirt on, so we knew right away he was a friend.

You may remember from Larry’s letter we published a while back that he is a big Laguna fan, and has lots of Laguna parts and memorabilia. In fact, earlier this year, Larry donated some much needed parts for our ’75 Laguna project car that we plan on using in the near future (once we gather up everything we need). Larry teaches finance, and lives in Deland, Fla., and was taking his vacation in Ohio. It was out good luck that the Goodguys meet just happened to be on his way.

In Columbus, the weather wasn’t so nice. Just as we met Larry, the sky opened up, and we beat a hasty retreat to a covered area, where we spent the next three hours talking about everything under the sun, but mostly cars. That rain storm was a blessing in disguise, because we had way more fun during that pouring rainstorm than we would’ve had otherwise. Thanks Larry, for spending the afternoon with us, and talking about one of our favorite subjects: Lagunas!
