Last weekend, our intrepid publisher, Ed Zinke, took the ’57 Chevy out for a spin!
Once a year, Lucas Oil pulls out all the stops for its employees and their families with an open house style BBQ as a way to say thanks for a job well done. This year was no exception, and a special invitation was extended to Popular Hot Rodding to bring our world-famous Project X ’57 Chevy out for all to enjoy.
Since receiving its 427-ci ZL1 crate engine from GM Performance Parts (along with a complete rebuild and an amazing paint job), Project X has been the model citizen on the road, running smoothly without hiccups. A push of the button opens up the exhaust cutouts through a fender-mounted port, and this has proven to be a big crowd pleaser.
Lucas Oil in Corona, California, puts on a great event, and this year it drew over 50 sponsored race cars of every type, along with boats and street cars. All are on hand for the day, showing Lucas Oil’s performance strategy, and dominance. Project X was part of this display, and virtually everyone there knew some part of its lengthy magazine history. Keep an eye out, as you never know where Popular Hot Rodding's Project X may appear next!
