As Super Chevy’s Project American Heroes comes in the final stretch, they need your help to decide on the final look!
2009 marks the third year Super Chevy magazine has built a charity vehicle for the Armed Forces Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to helping returning veterans. Project American Heroes III is a pavement shredding ’70 Chevelle with some wicked appointments provided by some 30 key vendors in the performance industry. The project is being headed by Route 66 Motorsports, and is destined for the Barrett-Jackson auction block at Palm Beach, Florida. Last year, Super Chevy and Barrett-Jackson raised a half million dollars for the Armed Forces Foundation with the sale of a ’69 Camaro that was covered as a build up in Super Chevy.
Key attributes for this year’s ’70 Chevelle build include a GM Performance Parts LSA crate engine—which is the 575-hp supercharged power plant out of the new Cadillac CTS. Also in the mix is TCI’s new 6-speed automatic trans with paddle shifters. This will make one screaming street car for one lucky bidder!
This year, Super Chevy needs your help to choose a paint color. (We kinda favor the orange one shown above, but they are all pretty awesome.) Six color schemes have been rendered, and can be voted on at www.superchevy.com.
