Headlight Restoration

I’m trying to get top dollar for my 2003 Mustang GT trade-in, and Meguiar’s Headlight Restoration Kit is helping big time.

With the new 2010 Camaro and Challenger R/T hitting the streets hard, I’m hankerin’ for a new ride, but to make that happen, I’ve got to get the most out of my high-mileage (120,000 mile) 2003 Mustang GT. I inherited my ‘Stang from my wife (she usually gets the new car) at around 100,000 miles, and her daily 120-mile trip to work through the Mojave Desert (seriously), and subsequent parking outside in 115 degree heat (seriously) left the plastic lenses sandblasted and baked. By the time I got the Mustang, the lenses were almost white.

I priced out new lenses at $230, but that was too high for my blood. Then I found Meguiar’s Headlight Restoration Kit with PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. The kit runs about $25, and includes the PlastX, and a 4-inch polishing pad (for a drill), and a microfiber buffing cloth. The whole operation took about 45 minutes, and restored the headlight lenses to almost new. The “old” lenses looked so bad, it would’ve surely cost me hundreds of dollars less in trade-in value, and the illumination at night is now vastly improved.

If you’ve got an aging late-model car with wasted plastic headlights, this is a really good product that will more than pay for itself (and your time) using it. I give it a big thumbs up, and would definitely use it again. Check out the before and after shot to see what I mean!
