Why Do People Need To Touch The Camaro?

Another Thing About Satin Paint

As I sit in the chair behind the Camaro at the car shows, I count people who touch my car.

I compare this number to my neighbor's car and its 5:1. Why are people so drawn to the satin paint finish? Is it really so bazaar they don't know what to expect when they touch it? Have they never seen anything with satin paint? There are lots of household objects that have the same surface.

I have wanted to ask these people who touch my car why they do so, but I'm afraid they would just apologize and walk away.

My guess is that people are very familiar with the feeling of gloss paint because they all own one, either it be a Camaro or a Camry. When they see something different they are compelled to touch it, expecting a soft or warm feeling.

I asked a couple friends their opinion and they all said they expected it to be soft. What do you think the reason is? Have you caught yourself doing this? Even I have, and I own a satin paint car!
