I Love Sticky Tires

Great Cars Deserve Great Tires

I love my BFG R1's and you can't make me change them!

Johnny and I went to the Goodguys car show in Del Mar this last weekend, and I got to run my Camaro in the Street Challenge autocross. I was unable to bring the car to this year's Costa Mesa show, so I was really excited to go play. I hadn't driven my car in an autocross type event since last year's Costa Mesa show.

In order to compete, you must have a minimum tread wear rating of 180. None of the cars I own have tires like these. I run R-compound, track-ready tires at all times. My track/autocross/street tire is the BFGoodrich R1 that has a tread wear rating of 40.

You may think that's an unrealistic car for the street, but without burnouts, they last a long time. I ran into some rain on the way to the show and didn't have a problem.

If I drove the 80 miles to the show, though rain, I should be allowed to compete, no?

I still ran, had fun, and would do it again!

GO R-COMPOUND TIRES!!
