From the beginning of hot rodding, burnouts have been cool. I remember the first time I saw a burnout; it was in my early high school days and a friend with a '89 Mustang GT was spinning his tires out in front of school just as everyone was starting to head home. The crowd slowed their pace until the came to a halt. All eyes were on the smoke-producing Mustang. I didn't know why, but I thought it was cool.
As I got more into cars, and started visiting the track, the smell of burning rubber was associated with good times and fast cars. Just the plume of smoke produced from locked up brakes from a neighboring car brings a flood of good memories.
I'm curious to hear what comes to mind when you get a whif of the sweet smell of burning rubber.
