Goodguys in Joliet

Cool Laguna

The car corral at Goodguys can be a source of inspiration.

Last September, we caught this ’75 Laguna sunning itself in the car corral. Normally, a nicely restored mid-‘70s car with hardly any speed or performance parts isn’t cause for much jubilation, but ’75 Lagunas are rare, and really nice ones are absolutely impossible to find, even when they’re not for sale. This one really got my blood pumping because it was for sale at a great price, and everything on it had been brought back up to new spec or better.

The asking price was $14,250, and above all else, the Laguna had a flawless (and expensive) two-stage paint job, and some nicely-chosen Boyd Coddington wheels (17x8 in front and 18x9 in the rear). Tires were 255/45R17 (front) and 295/45R18 (rear). This thing was fresh under the hood, with a rebuilt 350 and lots of chrome (not my gig, but cool for some guys). The interior was mint, with new carpet, new upholstery, scuff plates, headliner, seals, and package tray. A rebuilt Turbo 350 trans was nice, as was the new under-dash a/c system. The stance was nailed with two-inch drop spindles and cut springs.

I don’t know if any readers were lucky enough to pick it up, but if you did, we’ve got some great ideas for some mods. This one is ready for them!
