aFe Releases New Stage 2 Intake For LS2

More bolt-on air flow spells more power for an already awesome street performer.

Advanced FLOW Engineering (aFe) of Corona, CA, has a new cold air induction system for the new Pontiac G8 GT. The G8 GT’s bone-stock 6-liter LS2 makes 361hp right out of the box, and is good for 0 – 60 times of 5.4 seconds, but that’s plainly not good enough for the air flow aspirations of aFe. They’ve just got to add more ponies to the fray with a pair of airflow kits—both of them using the same roto-molded plastic intake tube for max flow, but the part No. 54-11582 kit has the upgraded and patented Pro-5R filter with five layers of cotton media ($382.35). The part No. 51-11582 ($376.47) has a Pro Dry S filter with progressive synthetic filter media.

No word yet on the performance increase, but we checked the g8gt.com forum for answers, and a spokesperson from aFe (screen name gtman35) had the following to say: “This is the best intake on the market. I have one on my G8 GT and it increased the hp by 25 horses. Not only did it increase my horsepower, but just the intake system increased the engine noise more than any other intake I've installed on any of my other cars. The mpg's also increased by 8-10 depending on how fast you’re going. All in all, it's the most impressive intake system I've ever owned and it's incredibly simple to install…”
