The first Camaro featured in GM's booth was this blacked out monster. The Camaro Black Concept is not the kind of car you would want to run into in a darkened alley late at night. The car features unique HID headlights with a custom red "halo ring" surround. The car gets it's power to stalk the night with help from the 3.6L V-6 under the hood.
Next up was the Dale Earnhardt Jr's Concept Camro, built to his specs. The The car started life as an SS model with the 6.2L V-8 modified to use E85. It takes full advantage of the improved octane rating to get a few extra ponies from the engine. With a custom White and grey paint job seperated with an orange stripe, the bowtie looks as fast as it goes. The car also features all new GM Performance products headers, Hurst short throw shifter, Brembo brakes and a lowered stance.
My favorite of the Camaros in the GM booth was the GS Racecar Concept. Built to re-create the look of the Mark Donohue' Trans Am road racing car the won the Series Championship in 1969. The GS Concept was built by Riley Technologies, and features a fully race tuned suspension. The car also has a seam welded body with carbon fiber hood, doors, trunk lid, and fenders. Mechanically the car features a production LS3 mated to a Tremec 6060 Six Speed transmission. This blue and yellow beauty isn't just pretty to look at, the car has been tested and raced and will be available in some form from Riley Technologies in 2009.
Perhaps the most important Camaro in attendance was the LS7 Concept, shoehorned with the new GM Performance Parts LS7 Crate Motor. The LS7 has been fitted with a High Performance Camshaft from GMPP and other goodies like GMPP headers, air intake, and a Wet Sump oiling System, all to make this baby achieve about 550 horsies.
Although the LS7 is purely concept it does show what will be possible for anyone with a little coin to achieve with the new Camaro and the LS7 crate motor from GMPP.
