Brian Finch built a hardcore street machine that really works.

While we were at the Goodguys Nashville Nationals this past June, we did a double-take when we saw John Bodeen’s ’66 Corvette. On the surface, it looks like a rat rod ’66 Corvette with late-model Corvette wheels, but that ain’t the real story. Built by his long-time high school buddy, Brian Finch, the ’66 is Bodeen’s dream car. We saw it as it was handily winning the Street Challenge Autocross in the Street Machine category, with a best lap of 25.88 seconds. It features a 2002 LS6 mill, T56 trans, suspension from a ’94 C4 Corvette, C5 front brakes, and a custom-built frame. It’s a ’66 by virtue of its body shape, but none of the ’66 mechanicals remain. Congrats John and Brian, for building a truly awesome machine!
