Ebay was the internet leader for selling random junk, but because it costs money to list, it weeded out some of the trash. On the other hand, CraigsList is a free, local, on-line classified website that allows you to post just about anything.
CraigsList is great for putting your old car parts on. I have dozens of parts that aren't really worth much money, but they are worth it to those who need it like a wiper knob to a rare car. CraigsList is good for the big stuff too. I have sold cars and motorcycles on CraigsList and the reason I believe it is so successful is because you can search locally, and check out the item before you buy. There aren't any guarantees like eBay has with secure on-line payments and that fanciness.
Like eBay, there are schemers you need to look out for. It has also been referred to as Flakes List as many of the people wont email or call you back when you contact them. But if you can deal with the near-60% fall-through rate, you will find CraigsList an extremely important resource to complete your car, buy a fridge, find an apartment, or even a job.
