This 8-second AMC is driven and wrenched by one of the most attractive gals to ever don a firesuit.

The first thing you say when you see Ann Erb’s ’70 AMX leap off the line en route to another 8-second timeslip is, “That dude’s car is the bomb!” As a full-weight street-appearing car in NMCA’s Pro Stock class, Ann Erb’s AMX is a standout for its mile-deep Golden Lime Metallic paint, and its string straight wheels-up launches.

It’s not uncommon to find women drivers in drag racing, in fact, it’s the in-fashion thing to do if you’ve got a bucket of daddy’s money laying around. But Ann isn’t the stereo-type played by chicks like Ashley Force. Ann knows every nut and bolt on her all-aluminum 435-inch Indy bullet and she’s all over it. She does get help from husband Steve Erb, but for the most part, he stays out of the way—this is her baby.

It’s normal for spectators who are fans of the AMC breed to search out Erb’s car in the pits after one of her wheels-up runs. When they come calling, it’s another pleasant surprise to see one beauty working on another mechanical beauty. We recently spoke to Ann about doing a photo shoot on her AMX, and she plans on bringing it out to compete in the NMCA Superbowl of Drag Racing in Joliet this coming July 17 – 20.
