V8, rear-wheel drive, fun to drive, manual trans, and performance with a low pricetag.
The Z06 Corvette has been a great value since its release in 2001. It was powered by an LS6 pushrod V8, a format being eliminated from most manufactures lines, but still performing for GM. This first year LS6 made 385hp and the following years made 405. This power propelled the Corvette deep into the 12’s which is pretty impressive for an off-the-showroom-floor model. The power isn’t the only attractive aspect to this car. It’s handling capabilities are impressive as well. 1.03 on the skidpad is something we aim for but almost always fall short. All this in a used package for between $25,000 and $35,000 is quite a good deal. These cars are the best bang for the buck of this era.
