PHR's Project Talladega rendering.

Artist Chris Gray gives you a look into what we’re thinking for our ’75 Chevy Laguna project car.

You won’t be able to get the full details of our new project car—Project Talladega—until the October issue of Popular Hot Rodding hits the stands sometime in late August, but here’s a glimpse of what we’re working on. After picking up our ’75 Laguna S-3 for five grand, we didn’t waste any time scheming.

We wanted to nail down the visuals fast, so we turned to artist, Chris Gray. Earlier, Chris had rendered a “what if” design for a ’70 Nova, done up Trans Am style. The suede paint job he did on that Nova really caught our attention because he really hit the look on the head. When we got the Laguna, we thought of him first for our rendering.

So we’re floating the illustration here first for you guys to see. What do you think about the graphic treatment, such as the satin paint? What about the sponsor logos? What about Neil Bonnett’s car number and name on the roof?
