July PHR--on newsstands now

Check out Air Ride Technologies' '70 Chevelle on the July cover of PHR--and win it too!

A lot of the cars Popular Hot Rodding features, as well as other car magazines, are often pie-in-the-sky dreams. The rationale is that, hey, you can always hope for something—if you win the lottery. This month in PHR, we’re upping the ante a notch or two. Our cover shows a nasty ’70 Chevelle built by the folks at Air Ride Technologies, and it’s powered by a World Products 540-inch big-block crate motor. Not only that, it’s got a full-tilt Air Ride Technologies suspension, Bowler 4L80E transmission, Intro custom wheels, BFG g-Force tires, a custom interior, Wilwood brakes, and a performance pedigree to match.

Why do you care? Because you can win this bad boy by attending any Goodguys Rod & Custom Association event on or before the Goodguys PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio this July 13 – 15. You can find out more about winning this car by logging on to

The other part of the story—which you can fully dig into at your local newsstand—is that the Air Ride crew has been flogging this car at autocrosses and road courses around the country. They do this to test their hardware in the heat of battle, and in front of hundreds of onlookers. This is no show queen, and it shows. The consensus at Air Ride is that this is their true love, and they plan on doing more cars like this. We’re already planning on covering the 2009 Goodguys giveaway car (also built by Air Ride), which will be a ’70 Nova with many of the same hardcore features as this year’s Chevelle. Look for that one to hit the track and the Goodguys show circuit next year—but that will be a story for another issue of PHR!
