Ford, Chevy, Mopar

We are currently trying to come up with what the next group of PHR project cars will be. Since we have readers that like many different brands we thought it would be cool to do a Mopar, Ford and Chevy all at the same time. Hunkins was thinking of doing a 68-72 Chevelle, I was going to try a Mustang and Dulcich was thinking maybe a Dart. The hard part is picking a car that is affordable for the average reader yet still mainstream enough to be of interest to our readers

1. Do a second gen Trans Am. They can still be found at a reasonable price and they have at least a 400" engine.

2. I may not be doing this correctly. I can't determine any other way to communicate with the author. In the article by Stephen Kim, on page 32 of the November, 2006 issue, there is a reference to "WSC Motorsports of Stone Mountain, Georgia,built the custom front coilovers, rear leafs, shocks, and sway bars." I can't find WSC Motorsports anywhere in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Can anyone help? email = tiffanycars@yahoo.com

3. Rather than a Chevelle, look for an early Monte, as it's the same chassis with same hop up parts working, but with a different look and you may save a buck on the body as they are not as hot as early seventies Chevelles. That extra foot and a half of nose brings back the elegance of the thirties.

Might want to play that thirties nostalgia up with a 572 feeding big chrome plated flex pipe glued to the side of the fender. (Does anyone make a wire wheel for a 17" tire, a 20" tire? Front only of course; rear would have to have chromed reversed steelies with baby moons about 10" wide mounting some big DOT radial slicks). If Ricardo Montebon, is no longer available to plug the car for the beauty shot, you could look up the SNL actor who parodied him with a "You look Marvelous!" J

4. I think it would be pretty cool, at least for the mopar project car, to do maybe a 65-66 dodge Monaco or Polara. They can be found pretty affordable i think. The only bad part would perhaps be availability of speed parts as they are both C-bodies. And they would be pretty heavy. But if your looking for something out of the ordinary, that would be a pretty cool cruiser, i think these would work.

5. How bout a 68 442 Olds or a car you covered a while back-1963 Pontiac Tempest or maybe a mid 80's El Camino. Mid 80's Elky's are way cool if done right and affordable.

6. Okay, it looks like a Ford guy needs to add his 2 cents... there are lots of Mustangs that have seen a second life as a project car. Virtually any Mustang makes for a neat project, save the '74 - '78 Mustang II. Although, if someone REALLY creative got hold of one... maybe...

I'd like to see someone make a classy cruiser out of a '64 to '69 T-Bird. Yeah, they're heavy. But their lines and low profile could make for something really sweet.

7. Why not do some pocket rocket type thing like a Maverick, Pinto type of thing I have seen V/8 Pinto's. Chevy, like Monza or Vega, Mopar well im stumped there,but like a 73 or 74 Roadrunner or maybe some old Amc. Mustangs, Camaro's, charger's Chevelle's, Nova's, Cuda's and challenger's have been done to death, However they are sweet cars.

8. 1976 Chrysler Cordoba! lighten it up a bit, dump in a blown indy headed 500 incher with a Gear Vendors O/D in back of a built 727, Dana 60 rear, big disk brakes all around, lowered, suspension rebuilt with poly bushings, big sway bars, cal tracs and then let's go Camaro hunting! Imagine how that thing would sound through a set of T-Tops while relaxing on fine corinthian leather!

10. do a monster miata. tiny little miata with a ford smallblock shoehorned between the fender wells. you wouldnt be able to bang the gears on that T5 fast enough.
